Last November, John Oliver highlighted during his program Last Week Tonight the Whooshh Fish Transport System (aka “salmon cannon”), a new, innovate fish transport system developed by Whooshh Innovations. As part of its continued efforts to improve fish migratory technologies, researchers at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) recently conducted a study on the effectiveness of the Whooshh System.

On Thursday, September 10 from 9-10 am PDT, PNNL invites you to attend a webinar discussing the results of their research and the role the technology could play in moving fish past obstacles like the Grand Coulee Dam.

You’ll hear from Mark Johnston with the Yakama Nation on their use of the Whooshh Fish Transport System. PNNL researcher Alison Colotelo will present the findings of PNNL’s evaluation of the Whooshh system. And, Stephen Smith with the Upper Columbia United Tribes will discuss a proposed plan for evaluating Whooshh specific to Grand Coulee dam upstream passage.
